Kinesio-Taping

Unlike conventional tapes, Kinesio tape is elastic. It is made from a cotton fabric that moulds flexibly to the skin and is stretchable lengthways.

It has similar properties to a human muscle. The tape is applied to the area to be treated. It stretches and contracts without restricting freedom of movement, whilst providing support to a weak or injured muscle. Kinesio taping has a pain-relieving and metabolism-boosting effect, thereby eliminating existing restrictions on movement.

It improves blood circulation and increases lymphatic drainage. The tape also helps to regulate muscle tone (muscle tension). This is achieved via the reflex arcs located between the skin and the muscles. The tape can build up or reduce tension, depending on the application technique. Through contact with the skin, it also acts on the pain receptors, thereby providing pain relief. Furthermore, there are application techniques that support or stabilise joints without restricting movement. This is particularly important with sports tape.
